The three consortiums bidding for the construction project of the fourth Athens metro line have been short-listed for the second stage of the tender. The three suitors have been asked to table their financial and technical offers by December 10, so that the selection process for the biggest public works project of the next decade can begin.

GEK Terna frontrunner for new metro line prep
Greek conglomerate GEK Terna is seen as the frontrunner for winning a tender to carry out preparatory works prior to construction for a new metro line in the Greek capital, according to sources.
The project concerns work on the first section of Line 4, which will connect downtown Athens from Alsos Veikou to Goudi.

ATHEX: Banks lead rise at Athens Exchange
Banks recorded robust gains on Monday, leading the benchmark at the Athens stock market higher in the first session of the week.
Stocks of Piraeus Bank, PPC, Jumbo and the National Bank overperformed, though turnover remained thin.

Stocks rise for second straight session on Athens bourse
Greek stocks ended higher for the second session in a row on the Athens Stock Exchange on Thursday, pushed by blue chips.
The general index rose 1.63 percent to close at 731.19 points against Wednesday's 719.46 points. The Large-Cap index ended 1.37 percent higher and the Mid-Cap gained by 0.98 percent.
Stocks jump on Athens bourse, led by banks
Greek stocks rebounded on the Athens Exchange on Wednesday, led by a strong interest in banking shares.
The ATHEX general index rallied 2.02 percent to end at 719.46 points, having however dropped to an intraday low of 700.27 points. Turnover came to 39.998 million euros.
The large-cap FTSE-25 index rose 1.94 percent and mid-caps advanced 1.56 percent.

ATHEX: Trading volume sinks to 16 mln euros
August dawned on the Greek bourse with a return to poor trading volume on Wednesday. Still, the Athens Exchange (ATHEX) benchmark ended in the black after earlier losses were offset during the closing auctions.
The ATHEX general index ended at 761.66 points, adding 0.06 percent to Tuesday's 761.23 points.
