Mitsotakis and Christodoulides to take part in inaugural Greece-Cyprus High-Level Cooperation Council

After jointly attending the humanitarian conference convened by French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides returned to Athens for the inaugural Greece-Cyprus High-Level Cooperation Council. The Council is scheduled to commence at 12 p.m., with joint press statements to follow.

Firms caught stealing power face closure

In the effort to tackle power theft, the government has announced that businesses that steal electricity face temporary or permanent shutdown while electricians who make illegal connections will lose their license. It will also crack down on so-called "strategic defaulters," defined as consumers who have changed providers at least twice in a period of five years while having unpaid debts. 

Mitsotakis to chair meeting on wildfire disaster, forest restoration

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will chair a meeting on Tuesday morning to assess the scale of the destruction by the hundreds of wildfires that have ravaged Greece and discuss the restoration of forests, mainly in the northeastern region of Evros and Mount Parnitha in Attica, the areas that suffered the worst.

Gov’t requests third disbursement from EU recovery fund

The government has submitted a third request to the European Commission for disbursement of funds from the Recovery and Resilience Fund (RRF) worth 1.72 billion euros.

The request was submitted by Alternate Finance Minister Theodoros Skylakakis, who is responsible for the implementation of the Greece 2.0 national development plan.
