POS deadline to get pushed back a month
The National Economy and Finance Ministry intends to extend the deadline for the mandatory installation of POS terminals by one month, the Athens Chamber of Tradesmen stated on Friday, after a meeting between Deputy Minister Harry Theoharis, the chamber's president, Giannis Theodosiou, and general secretary, Dimitris Gavalakis.

Greek VAT gap shrinks to €3.2 bln in 2021
Greece's value-added tax gap narrowed to 3.231 billion euros in 2021 from €3.426 billion in 2020, the European Commission said in a report on Tuesday.
Brussels said Greece recorded a 3.2-percentage point decline in the VAT gap, to 17.8% in 2021 from 21% in the previous year.

Declaring war on tax evasion
Officials are using warlike language when talking about their new efforts to fight tax evasion.
"We are adding another weapon to our arsenal, so we can achieve even more immediate results," Giorgos Pitsilis, head of the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE), said Wednesday when talking about the new capabilities of the authority's operations center.

Greek Tourism Minister: Vaccination Certificate Not Mandatory for Traveling to Greece
"The vaccination certificate will not be a precondition for somebody to travel to Greece," Tourism Minister Haris Theoharis said on Thursday. He added that the relevant proposal by Prime Minister Kyrikaos Mitsotakis to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was aiming to stir the waters so that the European Union coordinates on this issue.

Greece says no coronavirus tests, no quarantine for tourists this summer
Tourists will be allowed to enter Greece without taking a coronavirus test or remaining in quarantine when international flights restart on July 1, but health officials will conduct spot tests when required, Tourism Minister Haris Theoharis said on Wednesday.
Government signs 57.5-million-euro deal for Alimos marina
The 57.5-million-euro concession agreement to use and exploit the marina of Alimos, in southern Athens, for a duration of 40 years was signed on Wednesday with Aktor Concessions.
The value of the agreement amounts to at least 177 million euros, including an up-front fee, an annual concession fee and a revenue-sharing expressed as a percentage of the marina's annual turnover.
