In a self-critical mood, three senior members of leftist SYRIZA have authored a review of the party's four-and-a-half years in power which will be presented for approval to its Central Committee this weekend.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on May 26 he would call for early polls next month after a drubbing at European and local elections.

Only a few days after Greece became the 17th member of the Chinese initiative for Central and Eastern Europe - now called 17+1 - Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras traveled to Beijing to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. It was his third visit to the Chinese capital, after July 2016 and May 2017.

The government intends to submit a series of legislative amendments during the Parliament's summer sessions in a bid to cultivate its narrative that it will have more scope to ease the burden of austerity once Greece exits the bailout next month. 

SYRIZA lawmakers participating in a parliamentary committee set up to investigate 10 Greek politicians allegedly linked to a bribery scandal involving the Swiss drugs manufacturer Novartis, requested on Tuesday a two-day extension to submit their official report, sparking criticism from the opposition.

The procedure for the privatization of Thessaloniki Port Authority (OLTH) is about to restart following the departure of minister Theodoros Dritsas from the Shipping Ministry. Binding bids for the Athens-listed corporation are now expected for January.

Greek PM Alexis Tsipras sent a clear message during the first meeting of the newly appointed cabinet to his Ministers that the second review of the program with the country’s creditors must be completed by the December 5 EuroGroup meeting.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras proceeded on Friday with a long-awaited government reshuffle, moving out some ministers who have opposed bailout reforms and bringing some new blood into the administration.

Government officials indicated Tuesday that a cabinet reshuffle will probably happen next week rather than this week as the administration awaits Wednesday's anticipated court verdict on the constitutionality of a controversial auction for television licenses and attempts to keep a lid on internal dissent.
