Greece-Bulgaria-Romania trilateral meeting on establishing transport corridor

Ministers from Greece, Bulgaria and Romania held a working meeting in Sofia on Thursday to discuss the development of a transport corridor which will start from the port of Alexandroupolis and end in ports of the Black Sea and the trade routes of the Danube, through Bulgaria.

FSRU vessel set to arrive at Alexandroupoli port

After a long journey from Singapore's Seatrium shipyard via the Suez Canal, a GasLog tanker is due to arrive in Alexandroupoli converted into a floating liquefied natural gas storage and regasification unit (FSRU) and named Alexandroupolis in honor of the city and its people, who will host it permanently in the Thracian Sea.

Strong northerly winds disrupt shipping

Ships in various Greek ports were unable to dock on Saturday due to strong northerly winds that reached up to 9 on the Beaufort scale in certain parts of the Aegean Sea.

Rafina and Lavrio ports remained closed, as did the Rio-Antirio maritime route. In northern Greece, ships were unable to sail between Alexandroupoli and Samothraki, Kavala and Prino, and Keramoti and Thassos.

Greece: A strategic hub between Ukraine and the Middle East

With the war in Ukraine on one side, and the outbreak of war in the Middle East on the other, Greece has become a strategic hub, and is practically the only reliable US partner in a region that is in constant turmoil. Whether it's the port of Alexandroupolis in northern Greece, or Souda Bay in the south, Greece's geopolitical value is becoming more and more tangible.
