Shipping Prohibited in Bulgarian Section of Danube River

Shipping in the Bulgarian section of the Danube has been prohibited, announced Captain Toni Todorov, director of river Supervision - Lom with the Marine Administration.

The order entered into force on Tuesday at 12:00 hrs.

Captain Todorov announced that all ships passing at the moment through the Bulgarian section must dock at the nearest port.

Bulgarian Paralympics Gold Medalist To File Complaint with Discrimination Commission

Three of the Bulgarian participants in the paralympics - the gold medalist Ruzhdi Ruzhdi, Radoslav Zlatanov and Daniela Todorova, as well the coach Radostin Todorov will file a complaint with the Commission for Protection against Discrimination because of the remuneration which disabled athletes receive.

Bulgarian FM Dismisses Ministry's Chief Secretary Over Traffic Violation

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov dismissed on Thursday the ministry's chief secretary Stoyan Todorov.

Todorov was dismissed on the instruction of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov after it emerged that an official of the ministry had conducted a traffic violation in the centre of Sofia.

Book Sales in Bulgaria Rise 7% in 2015

According to the chairperson of the Bulgarian Book Association, Veselin Todorov, book sales in Bulgaria registered 7% increase in 2015.

A growing interest was also recorded towards Bulgarian literature, with 1/5 of the fifty best selling titles being of Bulgarian authors, Todorov said in an interview for Focus news agency.

English football team Portsmouth honoured retired Bulgarian striker Svetoslav Todorov by admitting him to the club's hall of fame.

Bulgarian twin child pianists Hasan Ignatov and Ibrahim Ignatov will play at Carnegie Hall in New York City, according to their father, Denis Ignatov.

The 11-year-old twin brothers applied for the "American Protege" competition by submitting video recording materials for the audition and were approved to take part in it.

Deputy PM: Half of Bulgarian Pensioners Live Below Poverty Line

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Ivaylo Kalfin said during the parliamentary control on Friday that more than half of Bulgarian pensioners live below the poverty line.

Kalfin stated that at the end of 2014 over 1 228 000 people or 56.4 % of Bulgarian pensioners lived below the poverty line.
