World’s largest toilet paper tube structure built in Domžale

Members of a Catholic youth association from Domžale, just north-east of Ljubljana, have constructed a church out of 87,423 toilet paper tubes in what is the largest such structure in the world. They hope to make it to the Guinness Book of World Records but also to raise awareness of the importance of resource saving and the power of working together.

11.5% of Bulgarians do not have a Toilet in their Home

11.5% of inhabited dwellings in Bulgaria do not have an indoor toilet, 6.9% do not have a bathroom at home. 0.2% of dwellings in cities and 0.7% - in villages are without a source of water, according to data published today by the National Statistical Institute on housing conditions, collected during the fall 2021 census.

‘Floating toilets’ help lake-dwelling poor

Pointing to the murky waters of the Tonle Sap, Si Vorn fights back tears as she recalls her four-year-old daughter dying from diarrhea after playing in the polluted lake.

Her family of 12 is among 100,000 people living in floating houses on Cambodia's vast inland waterway, and while their village has 70 houses and a primary school, it has no sanitation system.

The apartment is small, measuring 60 square meters and housing four brothers and their aging mother. The semi-basement where they have been living since 2003 has a separate entrance from the other tenants of the two-story building in the Athens neighborhood of Makrygianni, near the Acropolis Museum. It has two bedrooms, a small lounge, a kitchen and one bathroom/toilet.

Hotel manager at resort in Antalya slams 'tourists who steal random items'

A hotel manager from the Mediterranean province of Antalya has slammed those tourists who steal random items from hotels, referring specifically to a number of bizarre recent incidents.

Seyfi Öksüz, the manager of a five-star resort, described via his social media account how a number of tourists opt to steal random items from the hotel, including toilet paper and cutlery.

2,800-year-old Urartian sewage system unearthed in Van

An ancient Urartian sewage system, which was first discovered during excavations in 2004 in the Çavuştepe Castle in the eastern province of Van, has been unearthed. 

This year's works in the castle in the Gürpınar district of Van recently came to an end, after unearthing ancient vineyards, walls, cisterns, temples and palace structures.
