Bulgaria: GERB announced their Candidate for Mayor of Sofia

The GERB-SDS coalition registered Anton Hekimyan as a candidate for Mayor of Sofia in the Municipal Election Commission.

Hekimyan was until recently the director of "News and Current Affairs" on bTV. On Saturday, he surprisingly left his position. In bTV he went through the entire ladder - intern, reporter, editor, TV presenter.

President Rumen Radev began consultations with the parties represented in the parliament before handing over the first mandate to form a cabinet. The representatives of the largest parliamentary force GERB-SDS were invited first to "Dondukov" 2.

GERB will not hold Talks on Supporting a Government in this Parliament

"GERB-SDS will not conduct any talks to support a government within this parliament with any mandate", the chairwoman of the parliamentary group Desislava Atanasova told journalists on the sidelines of the National Assembly. "We believe", she pointed out, "that it is right to have early parliamentary elections as quickly as possible".

Toshko Yordanov answered a question about whether the party would take part in a pre-election debate with GERB leader Boyko Borissov.

Political Consultations Convened by President Radev Completed

Political Consultations with parties represented in the new National Assembly with the President Rumen Radev continued throughout the day.

Before opening the first meeting Radev addressed the parties, saying:

"I call on you and all parliamentary groups to bear responsibility - without shaking it off, but without going beyond your commission."

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov - whose government's resignation was confirmed in a vote by parliament on Friday after his GERB party lost the elections on 4 April - is refusing to present the country's recovery plan before lawmakers in parliament although he has been called to appear before them on Wednesday.
