More than 1,000 ancient graves uncovered in Halkidiki
Tourism development may have overshadowed the archaeological wealth found on the peninsulas of Kassandra and Sithonia in Halkidiki, but thanks to it, one of the largest cemeteries in northern Greece has been uncovered. Over a thousand burials of different types and numerous findings have been unearthed in recent years on Sithonia's Agios Ioannis coast.
SKY Express offering free flights to students
SKY Express is offering free flights to students traveling between Athens and Thessaloniki.
The offer runs from Friday, March 10 until Friday, March 31.
The initiative is launched in collaboration with Texan Environmental Management SA in the wake of Greece's train collision on February 28 which killed 57 people, including a large number of university students.

Greek woman arrested in Ryanair flight for smoking in toilet
A 28-year-old Greek woman was arrested for lighting up a cigarette in the toilet of the aircraft during a flight from London to Thessaloniki on Wednesday morning.
She was arrested upon her arrival at the northern Greek city's airport by police on charges she violated the express orders of the airplane's captain.

A 24-hour nationwide strike and mass protest over the fatal train accident of February 28, which claimed the lives of 57 people, took place on March 8 throughout Greece.
Car plunged into water in Thessaloniki
A car plunged into the water in Thessaloniki on Wednesday. Its 45-year-old driver was rescued from the car and taken to hospital in an unconscious state. The car was later pulled out of the water by a crane.
The incident occurred at midday, with the Coast Guard, the Hellenic Fire Service, the police, and divers all arriving on scene.

Greek workers join walkout over deadly train crash, call protests
Thousands of workers will join a nationwide strike on Wednesday in protest over Greece's deadliest train disaster that killed 57 people, and mass demonstrations are expected to culminate outside parliament in Athens.
No classes at Thessaloniki university Wednesday
No classes will be held Wednesday at Thessaloniki's Aristotle University, its governing council has decided.
Twelve university students were among the 57 victims of last Tuesday's railway crash. Another 26 students were injured.
The state university is Greece's largest, with over 51,000 students.

Moria arson appeal trial postponed to Wednesday
The trial in the second instance at the Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of the North Aegean regarding the arson of the Moria migrant camp on the island of Lesvos on September 9, 2020, has been deferred to Wednesday.
The four Afghan defendants have been sentenced to 10 years in prison by a criminal court on the nearby island of Chios.
