Toxic waste

Firefighters prevented a second explosion at a chemical plant in the western German city of Leverkusen after the first one happened in a solvent container.

This was announced by the Minister of the Interior of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia Herbert Royle, quoted by DPA.

Lead pollution tests at a temporary migrant camp built on a former army firing range on the island of Lesvos showed no threat to safety, Greece's migration minister said on Thursday, after concerns over toxic waste were raised by rights groups.

14 tons of toxic waste was dumped in the Yana railway station, confirmed for NOVA from Sofia Municipality.
 
The district is detached from the Directorate for Emergency Relief and Prevention to Sofia Municipality. There is no air pollution. A suspect is seized for the discarded waste.
 

Serbian officials say they have uncovered a stockpile of highly toxic waste materials illegally buried in containers at a private property near the capital, Belgrade.

The Attica Security Police's department for environmental protection is conducting tests on samples of toxic waste taken from the site of a huge illegal landfill in the region of Roupaki, in Aspropyrgos, western Attica. 

Workers from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) accidentally triggered a massive release of toxic waste from an old gold mine that sent about three million gallons of polluted water into a Colorado river, turning it orange.
 

The Environment Ministry said on Wednesday it will revoke the license of a recycling plant in Aspropyrgos, west of Athens, where a fire earlier this month sent toxic smoke wafting over the capital for days.
