As restrictions due to the novel coronavirus prevent seasonal workers especially from Georgia from traveling to Turkey, this year tea producers in the region may well have to turn to their neighbors to help haul in the leaves.
Turkey restricts travel from Istanbul to Black Sea region
Turkish authorities have restricted movements of some 100,000 people, who live in Istanbul but want to travel to the Black Sea provinces, to harvest tea in their land plots there, in a bid to curb the coronavirus spread in the region.
Medals given to eight soldiers after 100 years
The "Medal of Independence" will be given to eight soldiers who took part in the Turkish War of Independence, which was carried out against the Allied forces that occupied Anatolia between the years of 1918 and 1922.

Seminary building in Turkey’s Trabzon to be renovated
A seminary building that has remained unused for decades in the Sürmene district of the Black Sea province of Trabzon will be renovated and may be used in tourism activities.
The structure was built by the local Greek community and later served as a school and boarding facility. However, the building had remained idle for years.
Family lives in truck amid COVID-19 outbreak
A 56-year-old man has moved with his family to a wooden house built inside a truck in protection against the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Ömer Birinci, who lives in the Black Sea province of Trabzon, built the 20-square-meter house inside the truck as there is a ban on building in the city's highlands.

Interest in purple bread grows in Black Sea province
The sour-yeast-added purple bread obtained with the mixture of purple vegetables and fruits is currently very popular due to the coronavirus outbreak in the Black Sea province of Trabzon's Vakfıkebir district, which is famous for its bread.
Tens of hectars of woodland burned in four provinces due to garden cleaning
Six houses, tens of hectares of woodland and hazelnut orchards were damaged as a result of fires that erupted in 58 different spots in the Black Sea provinces of Trabzon, Ordu, Giresun and Artvin.
The fires were allegedly caused by dry grasses burned for cleaning of the gardens by residents.
More than 100 illegal buildings in Black Sea region’s Uzungöl to be demolished
A decision was taken to demolish 95 of 112 illegal buildings and to rasp 17 of them in Uzungöl, one of the most popular touristic spots of the Black Sea region in the Çaykara district of Trabzon province.
Municipal teams moved to Çaykara early on Dec. 23 in order to implement the decision to demolish illegal structures.

Population growth, industrialization and climate change are putting intense pressure on the planet's limited water supplies, and Turkey is expected to feel the impacts in the near future, an official from the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry has said.

The Santa ruins on the Trabzon-Gümüşhane border in the Black Sea region fascinate visitors. Located inside Dumanlı village, about 72 kilometers away from Gümüşhane city center and 42 kilometers away from Trabzon's Arşin district; the ruins are home to artifacts unique to Greek civil architecture.
