Traffic police crack down on drunk driving, cellphone use
As part of a nationwide crackdown on drunk driving and on people using their phones while driving, traffic police said on Tuesday they registered more than 1,250 violations in the period between February 24 and March 1.
Out of 24,849 vehicles checked, police said 561 of the violations concerned phone use and 705 broke the law on driving under the influence of alcohol.

Seventy-three thousand South Korean drivers over the age of 65 have returned their driver's licenses to avoid road accidents, TASS reports.
Twenty killed in Attica road accidents in December
Twenty people were killed and 566 were injured in a total of 503 road accidents recorded in the last month of 2019 in the region of Attica alone, data released by region's traffic police showed Friday.
Of those hurt, 15 were seriously injured, while the remaining 551 suffered lighter injuries.

One in 10 drivers fined for not wearing seat belt
Checks conducted by 933 traffic police crews around Greece last week found that one in 10 drivers were not wearing a seat belt.
Specifically, of the 15,073 drivers checked from November 4 to 10, 1,502 were fined for not wearing a seat belt.

A three-day crackdown by the Traffic Police the weekend before last led to 1,693 violations of the highway code being recorded across Attica.
