Due to the increased traffic to the Southern Black Sea coast, the Burgas police launched a specialized operation. It is mainly directed against road control.

In a bid to tackle the scourge of double parking, traffic police will soon be unleashed in Athens and other major urban centers with tablets to identify offenders and directly calculate the fines, which will be transmitted directly to TAXISnet. 

The need for deterrent penalties on excessive speeding has once again been emphasized by experts since 1,345 people lost their lives in traffic accidents during the past six months.

Thousands of traffic accidents occur every year in the country, mainly caused by excessive speed, carelessness, disobeying the rules and similar reasons.

The complete absence of traffic police from the center of Athens is impressive. Citizens are reminded that it exists only when officials are moving around or during demonstrations. 

Central intersections are constantly blocked and traffic lights are broken but the traffic police are absent. 

One of Slovenia's top tourist destinations, the Upper Sava Valley has been looking for ways to curb ever busier traffic. Some of its most popular landmarks face veritable gridlocks during summer, most notably the Vršič mountain pass and the Vrata Valley, where new traffic regimes will be put in place.

According to local media, Istanbul's congested traffic makes it nearly impossible to ride a bicycle, which is supposed to be an alternate and healthier mode of transportation, as the city lacks enough bicycle lanes.

On the last working day of the week, traditionally, increased traffic towards the sea side is expected. Despite the early hour, the traffic at the entrance to Burgas from AM "Trakia" is already busy.

The number of fatal road traffic injuries in Greece rose again in 2022, based on the annual report of the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) published earlier in June.

The 7th Annual Road Safety Performance Index (PIN) showed that 635 people died in Greece in 2022 compared to 624 in 2021. Most of the victims were pedestrians, cyclists, users of skates and mopeds.

55% of the drivers in Bulgaria operate motor vehicles at an excessive speed in populated areas. This is one of the conclusions of the completed two-year Baseline project, on which the State Agency "Road Traffic Safety" is working together with 18 EU countries.

The installation of an e-ticketing and access control system at the Acropolis archaeological site, designed to manage high traffic during peak times, can serve as a valuable model for other popular sites facing similar demand.
