Bulgaria: Danube Bridge Congested with 10-km Long Line of TIR Trucks

A 10-kilometer long line of TIR trucks formed last night at the Danube Bridge border checkpoint at Ruse.

The processing of the documents has not been interrupted and according to the border authorities the reason for the traffic jam is that carriers are rushing to deliver their goods to Western Europe before the Catholic Easter.

Large lines of trucks formed, on Tuesday morning, at the main crossing points on the border with Hungary, on the way out of Romania, due to the restrictions applied to heavy traffic until Monday evening, so that drivers are forced to wait between 80 and 420 minutes to reach border control.

Traffic police continue to watch out for motorists who dare driving under the influence, i.e. impaired by alcohol or other drugs. Over 13,000 different traffic violations were detected within five days - from 8 to 13 January, announced Chief Inspector Lachezar Bliznakov from the Traffic Police at a briefing today, as quoted by BGNES.

Ban on overtaking for lorries on A1 motorway enters into force

Ljubljana – A 6am-6pm ban on overtaking for lorries on the A1 motorway between Šentilj and Koper entered into force on Friday. Police controls will be beefed up.

The new regime will be in place for lorries weighing more than 7.5 tonnes. Overtaking will still be allowed for these vehicles during the day in three-lane sections, and on the entire motorway in night time.

Bulgaria: Road Police Warns Drivers Be Careful, Cold Spell Coming Within Days

Due to the expected cold spell in the coming days, the Road Police warns the car drivers to be careful, BNR reported.

Interior Ministry teams will watch out for breaches and cautions drivers that traffic may be difficult on some roads.

The road policing officers explained that drivers need to be careful tonight because sharp weather change is expected.
