Syrian transsexual woman killed in Istanbul
A refugee transsexual woman who fled Syria due to the country's civil war was murdered in her house in Istanbul on Dec. 17, the Ankara-based Kaos Gay and Lesbian Cultural Research and Solidarity Association (Kaos GL) has reported.
The murder was reportedly described as "transphobic" and "anti-immigrant."

Rainbow flag hung out on Ombudsman building
BELGRADE - A rainbow flag was hung out on the building of Serbia's protector of citizens as part of International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia celebrations, a sign of support for people of different sexual orientation and gender identity and the fight for their rights, on Tuesday.

Gay Happiness Index ranks 127 countries
If you are part of the LGBT community then you should look to the North of Europe. A gay dating and information network called Planet Romeo published a very interesting report this week, ranking the happiness levels of gay men across the world. The “Gay Happiness Index” showed Iceland in first place, and Uganda in last.

A group of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) protesters marched on May 3 in Turkey?s Aegean province of ?zmir, after four transgender women were recently the targets of violence.
Around 100 people in ?zmir protested the incidents in the Istanbul, ?zmir and Kocaeli provinces that took place on the night of May 2.
Half of transgender sex workers subjected to police violence: Report
A report drafted by a civil rights organization has drawn a picture of the plight of transgender individuals in Turkey, finding that half of all transgender women sex workers in the country have been subjected to physical violence from police. It also states that the murder of transgender individuals in Turkey amounts to 40 percent of the total number of such killings in all of Europe.

Montenegro Stages First Merllnka Gay Festival
The Merlinka festival, which has been organized in two other countries in the region since 2009, is running this year for the first time in Montenegro.
The festival is always held on International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia on May 17, which is marked all around the world.
