Transplants in Greece on an upward trajectory
The last three years have seen an increase in the number of transplants in Greece, with 2023 being the best year in the last 15 years in terms of organ supply.
According to National Transplantation Organization data, 87 deceased organ donors were registered last year (8.3 donors per million people), resulting in 204 solid organ transplants.

On Vučić's initiative, Serbia's Government donates € 1 million to Republic of Srpska
This was announced last night by the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabi, who took part in the traditional donor dinner "With love to brave hearts".
This donation will be used to establish a registry of voluntary donors of hematopoietic stem cells in Srpska and establish a Laboratory for HLA tissue typing.
Slovenians opt increasingly for organ donations
A record number of Slovenians registered to become posthumous organ donors last year. As many as 2,011 entered their name in the national registry, which now has 13,498 donors registered.
Most of the donors who registered last year were between 19 and 28 years old, a report from Slovenija-Transplant reveals. Some 80% of the newly registered donors registered via e-mail.

Greek teen’s marrow to be transplanted to Turkish kid
A stem cell found for a three-year-old leukemia patient waiting for transplantation in the southern province of Adana was brought to Turkey from Greece as a result of the efforts of the Health Ministry.
The son of the Şengezer couple living in Adana, Kuzey Deniz, was hospitalized last year after sudden fever.

Turkey opens airspace to save Italian toddler’s life
Amid the closure of Turkish airspace due to the coronavirus outbreak, it opened it up to an Italian jet to save the life of a 2-year-old Italian child.
On March 14, Dr. Massimo Cardillo, the head of Italy's National Transplant Center, sent an email asking Turkish authorities for help with the ailing toddler, according to Turkish healthcare sources.
