They were better that the world's best known singers at the time despite coming from a poor mining town and having no formal musical education - and their story has been largely forgotten for the better part of a century.
Cabinet touring former mining region of Zasavje
Trbovlje – The restructuring of what used to be Slovenia’s most mining-heavy region is expected to top the agenda as the government tours Zasavje in central Slovenia on Tuesday. The region is one of the two that can expect funds from the EU’s Just Transition Fund.

Slovenia’s joblessness keeps falling
Ljubljana – A total of 70,655 people were registered as unemployed in Slovenia in July, a decline of 0.6% from June and down as much as 21% from July 2020, according to a report released by the Employment Service.
The total kept falling despite the number of the newly registered rising by 54% from June to 5,443. The latter figure was still nearly 34% bellow last year’s.

Parents protesting closure of schools
Koper – Rallies were held across the country on Sunday as parents protested closure of schools after two regions slipped back into black tier last week. The government decided schools should return to remote teaching and kindergartens close on Monday in the two regions after pupils in grades one to three were allowed back in nine of 12 regions last week.

Trbovlje chimney turned into longest climbing route
Trbovlje – The Trbovlje power station’s 360-metre chimney, the tallest in Europe but no longer in use, has been turned into the world’s longest artificial multi-pitch climbing route. Slovenian world-class climbers, Janja Garnbret and Domen Škofic, have already successfully ascended it.
After Pyongyang, Laibach to perform in South Korea
According to an announcement on the band's website, Laibach will support the Asian premiere of Liberation Day, the film about its guest appearance in Pyongyang, with a big outdoor concert.

Slovenian Rockers Laibach to Sue Croatian Right-Wingers
Slovenian avant-garde rockers Laibach have threatened to sue a Croatian right-wing political party for using one of the band’s best-known songs in a promotional video.
