Treatment and management of COVID-19

The use of antiviral medications significantly lowers the risk of hospitalization and death caused by Covid-19 among older patients, according to a Greek study.

The World Health Organization said yesterday that it "strongly recommends" Pfizer Paxlovid's antiviral pill against Covid-19 for patients with milder forms of the disease who are still at high risk of hospitalization.

Merck said it is asking for authorisation for the capsules to treat infected adults who are at risk of progressing to severe Covid-19 disease or hospitalisation

The combination of two antibody treatments, casirivimab and imdevimab, is used at the request of attending physicians and at the patient’s responsibility since it currently has a temporary permit from the Slovenian Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
