Far from illusions

The vast majority of public opinion seems to be handling the electoral contest with calmness and sobriety.

The battles between internet trolls and the shouting contests on TV panels leave the public indifferent. Large gatherings are also a thing of the past, as is the frantic search for a charismatic messiah.

Shia LaBeouf was hoping to livestream his protest of Donald Trump for four years. But trolls kept crashing the party. After having his “He Will Not Divide Us” exhibit shut down in both New York and Albuquerque, he moved it to an “undisclosed location” to keep it safe from trolls. But the trolls only said, “Challenge accepted.”

Ethics and rules of engagement on social media

Thanks to Donald Trump, social media users in the U.S. are starting to feel the heat that Turkish users have been feeling for many years. The most powerful man in the U.S. and his team are using Twitter for smear campaigns along with disseminating "alternative facts."  Turkish authorities have been doing that for a long time and many of them run troll accounts.

Pappas reacts to taunting over Greek space agency announcement

Minster of Digital Policy, Media and Telecommunications Nikos Pappas admitted on Tuesday that some of the sarcastic comments posted on social media in response to his announcement on Monday that he will table a bill inaugurating Greece's first space agency, were "inspired," but called on people to take the issue more seriously.
