Turkey will not turn back from its acquisition of Russian S-400 defense systems, over which the United States sanctioned Ankara, presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said on Thursday, adding that Ankara would seek to resolve issues with its NATO ally through dialogue.

Almost immediately afterward the 48-hour curfew thousands of people in Istanbul, Ankara and other stores flocked to markets and bakeries still open for last-minute shopping on April 10. 

Roads in both cities were also full of traffic, with long queues forming outside off-licenses, grocery stores and banks.

Turkey's land borders with Greece and Bulgaria have been closed to entry and exit of passengers as a measure against the coronavirus outbreak, state broadcaster TRT Haber said on Wednesday.

A TRT reporter said the gates were still open for logistics.

Turkey has issued a navigational telex reserving a large area south of the island of Kastellorizo, within Greece's continental shelf, for military exercises on Sunday as Greeks go to general elections.

The Turkish Navtex has reserved an area stretching from the south of Kastellorizo westwards towards Rhodes for exercises that will use live ammunition.

Turkey's talks with the United States over an on-going visa crisis are headed in a "good direction", President Tayyip Erdogan's spokesman said on Wednesday, quoted by Reuters. 

The government barely had an opportunity to fully realize the required reforms in a systematic manner, but it will accelerate reforms by May 2017, Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek said April 10. 

Turkey's state-owned TV channel TRT has signed a new agreement with multiple satellite providers, including Türksat, to stream its TRT World Channel in a total of 190 countries worldwide.
