More than 50 museums and galleries in Sofia will join the "European Night of Museums" initiative. With free admission, there will be exhibitions, concerts, workshops, films and organized tours in cultural spaces in Sofia and the country.

President Rumen Radev received the honor guard of the Vasil Levski National High School in honor of the 113th anniversary of Bulgaria's declaration of independence at the Tsarevets Fortress in Veliko Tarnovo. Against the background of the national anthem, the Bulgarian tricolor was raised, and 113 balloons with the colors of the flag flew in the sky.

Today, Veliko Tarnovo is center of the celebrations dedicated to the 113th anniversary of the proclamation of the Independence of Bulgaria. The celebration started with a liturgy in the church of "Sts. Forty Martyrs." The military ritual of raising the national flag of Bulgaria was held in the Tsarevets Fortress.

With BGN 11 million Veliko Turnovo Municipality renovated 38 streets and the square in the old town. The ,,Samovodska charshiya'' has a new stone pavement and near the Tsarevets fortress there is a parking lot for nearly 100 cars and a tourist bus.

A serious problem in Veliko Tarnovo - a shortage of nurses. After a year, more than 15 nurses will be retiring and there are no willing to stand in their place, reports the Bulgarian National Television. 

The repair of ''Orlov Most'' (''Eagle Bridge'') in Sofia continues, bTV reported.

From this night, the roadway of 'Tsarigradsko shosse' Blvd. in direction to Sofia University will be open and the other one- in direction to Hotel ''Pliska'' Station will  be closed for repair.

A rare gold coin from the time of the Byzantine Emperor Phocas was discovered during excavations at Rusokastro Fortress, which is located on a hill near Zhelyazovo village, in Burgas district in southeastern Bulgaria, quoted by the Bulgarian National Television. 

The find proves that the fortress was active in the 6th century, the archaeological team commented.

On July 21 theatrical and musical production center-Varna will present the festival "Stage of the Ages" 2017 in Veliko Tarnovo and will premiere the musical "Cats" by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Director of the show is the master of the musical in Bulgaria prof.

The preparation for the Second Summer Season of Bulgarian Opera Theatres "Stage of Centuries" has begun with a working meeting of the mayor Veliko Tarnovo Daniel Panov, and the directors and representatives of the state operas in Varna, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora and Burgas.
