The high fuel prices in the country, combined with the huge number of quarantined people infected with covid, have led to a significant drop in cars in the capital's traffic.

Builders from the Bulgarian Branch Chamber "Roads" are protesting with a request for payment of the due and resignation of the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Komitova.

The protest started at 8:30 am in front of the Council of Ministers and will last until 12:00 pm. During this time, Dondukov Blvd. and Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd. will be blocked.

The introduction of a green zone in Sofia's Reduta, Geo Milev, Hristo Smirnenski and Hristo Botev neighbourhoods is being considered.

Discussions with citizens will take place on 3 and 4 March. The discussions were initiated by the people living in the area.

Today, Sofia Municipality has announced it is introducing free buffer parking spaces for everyone who decides to use public transport instead of their vehicles, said the municipality press office. The measure is being taken in reference the expected increase in fine particulate matter levels

'Green ticket' day passеs for public transport will be sold today in Sofia, the municipality's press office reported.

Today, Thursday, 19 December, Sofia Municipality has announced that buffer parking spaces at metro stations will be free of charge for everyone who uses the public transport. The measure is being taken in reference to forecast elevated levels of fine particulate matter above 150 micrograms per cubic metre at two stations of the Executive Environmental Agency (EEA).

Traffic may be obstructed in the capital on Tuesday, the Interior Ministry reported.
