Camping, hotel evacuated in Elafonisos due to blaze
Tourists at a camping site and a hotel on the island of Elafonisos, southern Peloponnese, were told to evacuate due to a fire that broke out on Saturday morning.
The evacuation was ordered for precautionary reasons and no settlements were currently at risk, the deputy regional governor of Lakonia, Adamandia Tzanetea, told state-run news agency ANA-MPA.
Authorities warn of high wildfire risk in Attica, among other regions
Greece's civil protection authority on Monday warned that eight parts of the country have been deemed as a category four wildfire risk, with an additional 12 one notch lower in category three due to rising temperatures.
Migrant boat intercepted off coast of eastern Mani
A reported 52 undocumented migrants were intercepted on Thursday by port authorities while on board a yacht off the coast of eastern Mani in Lakonia, southern Greece.
The yacht was to be escorted by a port authority vessel to the port of Gytheio.

High risk of forest fires on Monday, Greek authorities warn
The risk of forest fires across the country is very high on Monday, according to the General Secretariat for Civil Protection which highlighted the prefectures of Attica, Evia, Viotia, Fthiotida, Fokida, Larissa, Magnisia, Corinthia, Argolida, Arkadia, Lakonia and Hania as the most vulnerable - at level 4.
Man shoots Citizens’ Service Centre’s employee
A 75-year-old entered the Citizens’ Service Centre (KEP) at Geraki, Lakonia holding a gun and shot three times a 40-year-old employee.
According to preliminary information, the woman was wounded in the arm and transferred to the hospital.
The people who were there at the moment of the shooting managed to take the gun from the man.

Greece gets EU fire-fighting assistance (video)
In an immediate response to a request for assistance from Greece, the EU provided firefighting planes to help stop the spread of forest fires in several parts of the country, including in the outskirts of Athens.
