An exhibition at Istanbul's Pilot Gallery, titled "What Water Knows," gathers 16 artists around an idea of fluidity and adaptability of water, discovering their own version of interpreting water and the effect of its existence in the modern life.

A tsunami in the sea area southeast of Crete was caused after the earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale, according to the Tsunami Warning Service. The Church of Agios Nikolaos in Xyrocampos, Sitia, has collapsed and there have been reports of damage in the wider Sithia area, Kathimerini reported.

Warning signs directing residents to evacuation areas in case of a tsunami have been installed by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality as concerns over a potential disaster of a large earthquake that is expected to hit Turkey continue to mount.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.2 has struck the Alaska Peninsula, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said late on Wednesday.

The quake was at a depth of 35 km, USGS added.

The U.S. Tsunami Warning System, which said the quake had a magnitude of 8.1, issued a tsunami warning for the U.S. Pacific territories of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

A report presented to parliament called for attention to the threat of tsunamis in the Marmara Sea in the event of a possible major earthquake expected in Turkey's northwestern region.

Drafted by a parliamentary subcommittee investigating earthquake risks, the report underlined that Turkey is susceptible to tsunamis due to the high seismic activity under the sea.
