Pence and Pompeo Will Visit Ankara Today

US Vice President Mike Pence and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have left for Ankara, where extraordinary talks will be held with Turkish President Recep Erdogan.

The two US diplomats will try to persuade the Turkish head of state to suspend the military operation "Operation Peace", which has been underway in northern Syria for more than a week.

Erdogan: There Are Alternatives to the F-35 and "Offers Are Coming in"

Turkey's alternatives to US F-35 fighter jets are available and "offers are coming in", President Recep Erdogan said, quoted by BGNES.

Ankara and Washington clashed over Turkey's acquisition of Russia's C-400 missile systems, which the US says are not compatible with NATO defense and pose a threat to Lockheed Martin Corp's F-35 stealth jets.

Turkey pledges to continue its offensive in Syria and condemn the "dirty deal" between President Bashar al-Assad's regime and Kurdish forces following the withdrawal of US forces from Northern Syria, Prof. Fahrettin Altun, Director of Communications at the Turkish presidency, said.
