Turkey set for tough test in Netherlands

Turkey will take on the Netherlands in an away game in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, hoping to put its campaign back on track.

After a perfect start to its Group G campaign, beating the Netherlands 4-2 in its opening game followed by a 3-0 victory at Norway, Turkey was held to draws at home by Latvia in March and Montenegro last week.

Galatasaray sign Turkish winger Barış Alper Yılmaz

Galatasaray confirmed the signing of Turkish winger Barış Alper Yılmaz from the lower division side Ankara Keçiörengücü on July 9. 

The 21-year old player inked a contract with the Lions until 2026.

"We welcome Barış Alper Yılmaz to our club and wish him a successful career with the Galatasaray jersey," Galatasaray said.

Turkish manager expects tight match in EURO 2020 opener

Turkey expects a tough match against Italy in Friday's UEFA EURO 2020 opener in Rome, the Turkish national football team manager said on June 10. 

"I expect tomorrow's match will be in a high level technically, tactically and physically," Şenol Güneş said in a pre-match press conference, referring to both teams' high concentration and challenging playing style on the pitch.

Galatasaray get 2-0 road victory over Gençlerbirliği

Galatasaray claimed a 2-0 away win against Gençlerbirliği on May 2 in a Turkish Süper Lig game.

Playing in Ankara's Eryaman stadium, Galatasaray's Halil Dervişoülu fired a classy long-shot to break the deadlock in the 44th minute.

The Istanbul football club doubled the gap when Emre Akbaba made a close-range finish in minute 53.
