Turkish international Barcelona player Arda Turan verbally, physically attacks sports journalist on plane

Turkish international and Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan has verbally and physically assaulted a Turkish sports journalist on a plane carrying the national team from Macedonia's Skopje to Italy's Trieste late on June 5. 

Just before the plane took off, Turan reportedly approached daily Milliyet's Bilal Meşe, who was sitting nearby, and started shouting at him. 

Turkey earns comfortable 2-0 win over Finland

Turkey defeated Finland 2-0 in the two sides' Group I World Cup Qualification clash on March 24 evening in the southern province of Antalya.

The match in the New Antalya Stadium saw an attacking Turkish dominate in the opening minutes, culminating in Beşiktas's in-form striker Cenk Tosun scoring in the ninth minute.

Başakşehir wants to extend stay atop league

Istanbul club Başakşehir is determined to remain the leader of the Spor Toto Super League as it prepares to host Akhisar Belediye on Oct. 30.

This year's surprise club Başakşehir, under former Turkish national coach Abdullah Avcı, remains unbeaten in the league with six victories in eight weeks, and is leading Beşiktaş on goal difference.

Turkey faces Ukraine test on road to World Cup

The Turkish international football team hosts Ukraine in the Central Anatolian province of Konya on Oct. 6 in its bid to advance to the 2018 World Cup in qualification Group I.
All three games in the group ended in draws on the first matchday, with Turkey grabbing one point with a 1-1 draw in Croatia amid ongoing debates over coach Fatih Terim's squad selection. 

Turkey snatches last-minute winner in Montenegro friendly

A last-gasp header from Mehmet Topal gave Turkey a 1-0 victory over Montenegro on May 29, as well as a boost to the team's morale ahead of Euro 2016. 

Midfielder Arda Turan, likely to be key to Turkey's prospects in France, set up the goal with a cross in the fourth minute of stoppage time and Topal charged into the area to head it past the diving Montenegro keeper. 

Trabzonspor-Fenerbahçe Turkish league game abandoned after fans attack official

The Turkish Spor Toto Super League match between Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor late on April 24 was abandoned in the 89th minute after Trabzonspor fans stormed on to the pitch and attacked an official.

Istanbul side Fenerbahçe, who is second in the standings, was leading 4-0 after goals by Alper Potuk, Volkan ?en, Luis Nani and Robin van Persie.
