The Turkey director of the World Bank, Martin Raiser, has advised Turkey to engage in parallel negotiations with the U.S. in order to prevent adverse effects of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden next month visits Ukraine as well as Turkey, where fighting across the border in the Syrian town of Kobane has sparked tensions with Washington.

Militants from Turkey’s outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) on Oct. 27 hijacked a truck, seizing 400 kilogrammes (880 pounds) of the explosive substance ammonium nitrate, the Turkish army said.
