Turkish military board to convene under PM Davuto?lu

The Supreme Military Council (YA?) will convene on Nov. 26, chaired by Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu. 

Members of the council including Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar, the defense minister, force commanders, army commanders, the gendarmerie forces commander, navy commanders, and four star generals, will participate at the top defense meeting, which is held twice a year.

Former chief of general staff says Bush administration supported plot against Turkish army

Former Chief of General Staff Gen. ?lker Ba?bu? presented his defense at a second hearing before the Supreme Court of Appeals in the Ergenekon coup plot case on Oct. 7.

Former Chief of General Staff said a plot was laid against the Turkish Armed Forces.

Turkey neighboring three regions in crisis, chief of staff says

Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar has said Turkey is the only NATO member country that is neighboring three crisis areas, namely Syria, Iraq and Ukraine, speaking at NATO's Military Committee conference in Istanbul late on Sept. 12.

"These crises are in Syria, Iraq and Ukraine. These threats affect not only the region but also global security.

What is the name of our state?

I know this is an absurd question. The name of our state in all official documents here and abroad is the ?Republic of Turkey.? Well then, why such a question; why such a title? 

Let me explain. 

While he was delivering his Aug. 30 Victory Day message, our new Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar said some interesting things which drew my attention.
