Turkish giant Galatasaray has claimed its 23rd Turkish Süper Lig title on night of May 30 with a 4-1 win over Ankaragücü in its penultimate match of the season, with a double from Mauro Icardi and further goals from Barış Alper Yılmaz and Sergio Oliveira.

It was the first time the Istanbul club has claimed the league title since the 2018-19 season.

Galatasaray will compete in the Basketball Champions League starting from the 2020/21 season, The Lions confirmed Friday on their website.

The Turkish Super League will resume on Aug. 10 when defending champion Galatasaray visits Ankaragücü, a returnee to the top tier.

Spor Toto Super League leader Başakşehir will travel to its closest rival Galatasaray on April 15 in a game that will shape the title race with just six games to go.
