Turkey's Culture and Tourism Ministry offered information on Jan. 25 related to the delights of Turkish cuisine, gastronomical routes and outstanding restaurants on the Go Turkey website. 

The ministry began including the richness of Turkish cuisine on the website, which introduces Turkey's tourism and cultural richness.

Nepalese grad student impresses with his talent in Anatolian cuisine

A 29-year-old Nepalese graduate student, who is studying in Istanbul, has become a master of many Anatolian dishes, ranging from baklava to white beans and stuffed grape leaves to anchovies.

Muhammed Cavit Ensari, an electronic and electrical engineer, came to Turkey four years ago to pursue a master's degree at Istanbul Technical University.

Two-meter-long Ramadan pita sold by auction

A baker in the eastern province of Kars sold a 2.20-meter pita, with "Stay at Home Turkey" written on top of it using poppy and black seed prepared for the holy month of Ramadan.

Bakery owner Mustafa Kaya, who made the Ramadan pita with a dough weighing about 14 kilograms, said that he prepared such a thing in order to raise awareness to coronavirus measures.

Döner shops create monthly $630 million business volume

Some 30,000 shops sell around a total of 900,000 kilograms of traditional döner kebab each day across Turkey, making a great contribution to the local economy, according to the head of a trading group.

"Döner makers are also the main players in the local meat market as they create strong demand," Muhammet Nezif Emek, the head of Döner Shop Owners' Association, told Anadolu Agency.

Some 9.6 mln tons of cow milk collected in 2019

Turkey collected 9.56 million tons of cow's milk in 2019, the country's statistical authority revealed on Feb. 12.

The 2019 figure slipped 4.7 percent compared to the previous year, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) said in a statement.

The country produced 1.5 million tons of drinking milk last year, indicating a 7.3 percent annual drop.
