Turkish Cyprus president says cooperation with Turkey 'long-desired policy'

Cooperation between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is a long-desired policy, said the TRNC president on Oct. 23.

Speaking at an event in Turkey's southern Hatay province, Tatar said it is necessary to act together to protect TRNC's assets, the national identity of Turkish Cypriots, and national interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Gov’t in Turkish Cyprus resigns after political deadlock

The shaky coalition governing Turkish Cyprus resigned yesterday after months of political deadlock in the parliament following a presidential election held last year.

Turkish Cypriot Premier Ersan Saner has said in a written statement that the coalition of the National Unity Party (UBP), the Rebirth Party (YDP) and the Democrat Party (DP) has ended.

Musicians of 'Diva' sentenced for fake PCR tests

The 20 members of Turkish artist Bülent Ersoy's orchestra team have been sentenced to one month in prison for declaring a fake PCR test to the Turkish Cypriot authorities.

"I will spend my fortune to save them," said Ersoy late on Oct. 4, while one of the orchestra members spilled out hatred against her, saying, "You ruined our lives. You will be cursed."

Turkish Cyprus wishes to be world’s trade center

It is the greatest desire of Turkish Cypriots to make the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) one of the most important trade centers in the world, its prime minister said on Sept. 22. 

Ersan Saner told Anadolu Agency that his government keeps relations with Turkey at the highest level and it is satisfied with the economic and cooperation work between the two countries.
