Argentine artists commemorate Turkish poet Aşık Veysel

Buenos Aires Yunus Emre Institute has brought together Argentine artists in a project to commemorate highly-regarded Turkish folk poet Aşık Veysel with his poems on the 50th anniversary of his death.

Within the scope of the project carried out by the institute, musicians performed the work of the great artist "Uzun İnce Bir Yoldayım" with their local instruments.

Folk singer Aşık Veysel Şatıroğlu was commemorated at his grave in Sivrialan village in the eastern province of Sivas on the 50th anniversary of his death.

Saplings were planted in the memorial forest for the folk singer who died on March 21, 1973, and a memorial ceremony was held in his house, which is used as a museum today, in the Şarkışla district.

"Sezen Aksu will never walk alone," the intellectuals said in an open letter and added that they were watching President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's targeting of Sezen Aksu, which violated freedom of expression.

First festival of 2021, Festtogether to be held in January

Turkey's first sustainable music festival, Festtogether, which was organized on May 9 to support the needs that emerged after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, is now preparing to support the field of culture and arts, one of the most damaged sectors in the pandemic.

The festival will be held on Jan. 2 and 3, 2021, as the first festival of the new year.

Presidency calls for unity in world in concert marking national day

The Turkish Presidency organized a concert to celebrate April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day with the slogan "From seven hills to seven continents."

The concert, which called for love and unity messages for the whole world, was broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Republic of Turkey Directorate of Communications.
