North Macedonia's fugitive former prime minister Nikola Gruevski could face a fresh money laundering probe following reports that he used money transferred from his home country to start new business ventures in Hungary, the former prosecutor of the now defunct North Macedonia's Special Prosecution, SJO, Lence Ristovka, said.

Recently-detained business magnate Orce Kamcev has long been the focus of controversy in North Macedonia, where he had close connections to the authoritarian government of former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.

US Republican Senator Marco Rubio has asked the US Secretary of the Treasury and the Attorney General to launch "a full review of the national security implication of AT&T's upcoming sale of the Central European Media Group Enterprises, CME, to the Czech-owned conglomerate PPF Group".

Czech investment group PPF said on Monday it had given up on buying Bulgaria's Nova Broadcasting Group from Sweden's MTG, citing rejection by the country's anti-monopoly watchdog, reports Reuters. 

The Swedish Modern Times Group (MTG) has sold the Nova Broadcasting Group to the Czech PPF Group, both sides said on Monday. The company, which is under the control of billionaire Petr Kellner, specializes in banking and financial services, but also in telecoms, real estate and biotechnology.
