Gov't approves Memorandum on joint Serbia-Romania-Bulgaria-Greece candidacy for organising Euro 2028, World Cup 2030

The Government on Wednesday approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the submission of a joint candidacy of Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece for the organisation of the European and World Championships of 2028 and 2030 respectively, said the spokesperson for the Government, Nelu Barbu.

The President of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF), Razvan Burleanu, on Tuesday told a press conference held in Cluj that Romania hosting four matches counting for the 2020 European Championships is a unique event, for which reason he invited as many people as possible to get involved, including volunteers.

The Sports Ministers of Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Serbia Will Meet in Sofia

Sports ministers and representatives of the football federations of Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Serbia will hold a workshop in Sofia on February 25th, reported the Bulgarian National Television.

The host of the meeting is the Bulgarian Football Union and Boyana National Football Base.

Serbia, Greece, Bulgaria and Romania will create a joint organizing committee to apply for hosting the European FootballChampionship in 2028 or the World Cup in 2030, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said Saturday.

 

Earlier in the day, Belgrade hosted a meeting between the prime ministers of Greece, Romania, Bulgaria and the Serbian president.

Balkan 2030 World Cup bid is Realistic, Says Bulgarian Sports Minister

A bid by Balkan countries to host the 2030 soccer World Cup would have a realistic chance because the governments of Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and Romania would offer support for the joint candidature, Bulgaria's Sports Minister Krasen Kralev said on Wednesday, reports Reuters.
