Minister says head of UKC Ljubljana hospital should step down

Ljubljana – The management of the UKC Ljubljana medical centre no longer enjoys the support of the Health Ministry, Minister Danijel Bešič Loredan told the press on Tuesday. He said Jože Golobič, director general of Slovenia’s main hospital, should resign immediately and take responsibility for poor business results and numerous missed deadlines.

Supervisors in nine hospitals replaced due to poor financial results

Ljubljana – The government has replaced members of the supervisory boards of nine hospitals due to the institutions’ poor financial performance and will carry out a special audit to see how they continue to post losses despite receiving hundreds of millions of euros in extra funding last year.

Nine out of ten hospital doctors inoculated against Covid-19

Ljubljana – Nearly 90% of doctors working at Slovenian hospitals have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, data from the Slovenian Medical Chamber shows. The vaccination rate among other health staff is lower.

Out of 3,571 doctors employed at Slovenia’s two medical centres and hospitals 89.4% have been vaccinated.

Tande stable, waking up after Planica fall

Planica – Norwegian ski jumper Daniel Andre Tande is still in an intensive care unit at Ljubljana’s UKC hospital after suffering a heavy fall in Thursday’s trial round at the World Cup meet in Planica. “His condition is stable and is in the phase of waking up,” anaesthetist Špela Štupnik Pirtovšek, a member of the medical team in Planica, said on Sunday.
