A poignant procession swept through the heart of Sofia on Saturday evening, as citizens gathered in solidarity to mark the solemn occasion of the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Under the banner "Ukraine: Two Years of Struggle for Life, Freedom and Democracy!

The protest does not include only people who have relatives in Ukraine, but also Bulgarians who said they were here in protest that we have returned the clock to a century ago.

People are pushing for humanitarian aid.

France's anti-government "yellow vest" protesters are to put forward a list of candidates to run in upcoming European Parliament elections, it said on Jan. 23.

Romanian government officials came under heavy criticism from the opposition and civil society organisations on Tuesday for dodging accountability over the security forces' use of violence against anti-corruption protesters on August 10.

Demonstrators were arrested in protests and clashes in front of the parliament in the Ukrainian capital Kiev. One policeman is injured, reports bTV.

Several hundred people gathered outside the Verkhovna Rada to demand a swift adoption of a new law on the reintegration of the regions in eastern Ukraine controlled by the separatists.

Interior Ministry of Ukraine reported the explosion of a car in Kiev, as a result of which two people were injured. Later, it turned out that the wounded were five. Spokesperson of the Radical Party Anna Sennik, told the 112 channel Ukraine that the parliamentarian Igor Mosychuk and his bodyguard were injured in the car blast. The two were hospitalized, according to BGNews.

Female activist group FEMEN who stage daring nude stunts to get their message across pulled another one of their signature moves when a bare chested member mounted a statue outside the Ukrainian Parliament on Tuesday. The words “School of corruption” were written across her breasts while she was ringing a school bell, protesting what the group perceives as a corrupt Ukrainian parliament.

Ukraine has officially set NATO membership as a key foreign policy goal, overturning the country's non-aligned status adopted by the previous government ousted in the Euromaidan coup of 2014.

Feminist activists of FEMEN hung a big banner from a church to protest French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen in the depressed northern town of Henin-beaumont, where she cast her ballot.
The activists were quickly detained after the protest Sunday in Henin-Beaumont, the latest among many actions in recent days against Le Pen or against both candidates.
