Divers return to shipwreck where ancient ‘Antikythera Mechanism’ was found
Archaeologists set out Monday to use a revolutionary new deep sea diving suit to explore the ancient shipwreck where one of the most remarkable scientific objects of antiquity was found.
The so-called Antikythera Mechanism, a 2nd-century BC device known as the worlds oldest computer, was discovered by sponge divers in 1900 off a remote Greek island in the Aegean.
Turkish diver Şahika Ercümen breaks new freediving record
Turkish diver Åahika Ercümen broke a new world freediving record in the variable weight without fins discipline on July 23, off the coast of the Mediterranean resort town of KaÅ.
Ercümen performed a 91-meter dive in 2 minutes and 49 seconds, taking the record from another Turkish diver, Derya Can, who broke it last year.

New international mission ready to explore Antikythera shipwreck
First underwater archaeology vessel launched
Konyaâs Selçuk University on June 17 launched Turkeyâs first underwater archaeology research vessel in Antalya. With teams from Warsaw and Naples, the university will set off in July 1 to discover the underwater archaeological richness of the Mediterranean, spanning until Aug. 31.
