Unemployment in Turkey

Turkey's unemployment rate dropped by 0.5 percentage points to 13.2 percent in 2020, the country's statistical authority said on March 22.

Last year, the number of unemployed people was 4.08 million, down from 4.4 million in 2019, TÜİK figures showed.

Meanwhile, the number of unemployed people - aged 15 and over - was 4.06 million last year, down from 4.4 million in 2019.

Turkey's unemployment rate was 12.9% with a 0.4 percentage point decrease in November 2020, the Turkish Statistical Institute announced on Feb. 10. 

The number of unemployed age 15 and over decreased 303,000 to 4.5 million as of November compared to same month of 2019, according to the institute.

November's figures showed a 0.1 percentage point fall compared to October 2019, when unemployment stood at 13.4 percent.

The rate for employment dropped by 0.9 percentage points and hit 45.6 percent, almost 28.17 million people, the data showed. 

Unemployment in Turkey reached 13.8 percent in September, said the country's statistical authority on Dec. 16.

Turkey's unemployment rate became 13.9% in July this year, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced on Oct. 15.
The unemployment rate rose 3.1 percentage points compared to July 2018, TÜİK stated.

The unemployment rate in Turkey stood at 13% in June, the country's statistical authority announced on Sept. 16.

The unemployment rate in Turkey was 14.7 percent in January 2019, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced on April 15.
