One of 5 young Turks unemployed in September
Turkey's youth unemployment rate, including persons aged 15-24, was 19.9 percent with a 1.4 percentage point increase in September, showing that one in five young people were unemployed. The unemployment rate for people aged 15-64 was 11.6 percent with a 1.1 percentage point increase, official data showed on Dec. 15.

US Federal Reserve raises interest rate 0.25
The U.S. Federal Reserve increased its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percent, marking its first rate hike since last December and only the second in a decade, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) announced late on Dec.14.

Unemployment Benefits for Bulgarians Looking for Work Abroad To Be Paid by Bulgaria
According to a proposal of the European Commission, Bulgarians entitled to unemployment benefits will receive these from Bulgaria for 6 months even if they are looking for work abroad.
The announced reform in the coordination of the social systems among the 28 member-states determines who is responsible for the payment of benefits.
37,667 Greeks lost their jobs in November 2016
Roughly 37.667 salaried jobs were lost in the private sector in November 2016 according to the information system ERGANI, in what is considered the worst employment performance of the last five years, with more layoffs than hirings.

Over 37,600 jobs lost in November, labor ministry system shows
Salaried employment in the private sector slowed down in November, data released by the Labor Ministry's Ergani system showed on Monday.
The system showed that 157,385 people were hired in November and those who left their jobs came to 195,052 people, out of whom 66,978 people left their positions voluntarily, while 128,074 were laid off or did not renew their contracts.
Serbia's unemployment rate down to 13.8 pct
BELGRADE - Serbia's unemployment rate is down to 13.8 pct, PM Aleksandar Vucic and Minister of Labour, Employment and Veteran and Social Affairs Aleksandar Vulin have said in the parliament.
In Monday's debate on the 2017 budget bill, Vucic said that, after declining to 15.2 pct, the unemployment rate had dropped further to 13.8 pct in the last quarter.

Unemployment rate "down to 13.8 percent"

Eurozone unemployment rate edges down further
The unemployment rate in the 19-country eurozone edged down further in October, to 9.8 percent from 9.9 percent the previous month.
Statistics agency Eurostat said Thursday that the number of people out of work fell by 178,000 over the month.

Unemployment in Turkey rises to 11.3 percent in August
Turkey's unemployment rate rose to 11.3 percent in August year-on-year, an increase of 1.2 percentage points, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced on Nov. 15.
Unemployment in Bulgaria Down to 7% in Q3, 2016
Unemployment dipped by 1.3% year-on-year in Bulgaria over the third quarter of 2016 compared to the same period of last year, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) has announced.
There were 229 000 unemployed persons in the third quarter of 2016. Their number went down by 50 300 compared to the period between July and September of last year.
