United Nations Climate Change Conference

The biggest challenges in the international process in the climate negotiations in 2018 and the EU's actions to deal with them were discussed on the second day of the informal meeting of EU environment ministers in Sofia.

During the second day of the Informal Council of Ecologists of the European Union at the National Palace of Culture, the participants discuss the results of the international negotiations on climate change.

The focus is on the challenges facing the EU at the end of the year, the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

A meeting of the first of three technical committees of Turkey and the U.S. aimed at resolving issues between the two countries concluded on March 9.

On 12 December 2017, the anniversary of the adoption of the historic Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the world is meeting again in the French capital with the goal of fast forwarding action on climate change.

Head of State Rumen Radev will take part in the summit "One planet", dedicated to climate change, which will be held on December 12 in Paris, reported BGNES. 

The Bulgarian President will present our country to the high-level forum at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim.

The 23rd Conference of the Countries part of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 23) started in the former German capital Bonn.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced Tuesday that France will host an international summit on Dec. 12 to ensure the implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change, according to Xinhua News.

The summit is scheduled to take place two years to the date when the historic agreement was reached at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 21) in Paris.

For those present at the 2009 climate summit in Copenhagen, this week's events will prompt similar feelings of disappointment, anger and even disbelief that in the face of all the evidence, politicians sometimes get it wrong. 

Athens International Airport recently became carbon neutral after certification by an independent body which attested to the fact that the airport had managed to reduce its CO2 emissions. The airport achieved Level 3+ Neutrality, certified by the independent carbon management program Airport Carbon Accreditation.
