United Nations Climate Change Conference

A group of experts and leaders of various non-governmental organizations from Turkey launched a new environmentalist initiative on Nov. 3 at the U.N. climate summit currently underway in Glasgow, Scotland.

The "Love Flower Alliance," which aims to sustain a "livable ecosystem" was launched at the U.N. Climate Change Conference, or known as COP26 this year.

Ljubljana – The government has decided that Slovenia will join the Powering Past Coal Alliance as part of the Energy Day at the COP26 conference in Glasgow on Thursday, dedicated to enhancing global energy transition, and will also sign a statement of public support for the clean energy transition.

Glasgow – Prime Minister Janez Janša took part in Glasgow on Tuesday in the launch of an initiative to reduce methane emissions by 30% by 2030, proposed by the US and EU, the prime minister’s office said, noting that Slovenia was among the supporters of the initiative.

More than 100 countries pledged on Nov. 2 to end deforestation in the coming decade, a promise that experts say would be critical to limiting climate change but one that has been made and broken before.

The summit, hosted by UK PM Boris Johnson, will be an opportunity to discuss ways of mitigating climate change and providing climate aid to the most vulnerable countries.

The inaugural UN climate conference in Glasgow is the last chance to limit global warming to less than one and a half degrees Celsius. This was stated in his opening speech by the chairman of the conference Alok Sharma. COP26 began with a minute of silence in memory of the Covid-19 victims.

More than 120 world leaders meet in Glasgow on Nov. 1 in a "last, best hope" to tackle the climate crisis and avert a looming global disaster.

"It's one minute to midnight and we need to act now," British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was due to tell them, according to extracts from his speech.
