Piraeus in UN-backed bank principles initiative
On Monday at the Global Roundtable in Paris, the United Nations Environment Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) and 28 banks from around the world launched the Principles for Responsible Banking for global public consultation.
Together the banks represent over $17 trillion in combined assets, and CEOs from 12 of the banks attended the launch.

French President: Europe Steps in to Cover US Shortfall in Funding Climate Science
French president Emmanuel Macron says that Europe will cover any shortfall in funding for the global climate body, the IPCC, BBC reports.
The scientific organisation has faced uncertainty since President Donald Trump outlined plans earlier this year to cut US funding.
The UK government also pledged to double their IPCC contribution.
GEF approves USD 3.2mn to help improve Serbian forests
The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council has approved a grant of USD 3.2 million to help improve the state of forests in Serbia.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) made the announcement on Thursday, Tanjug reported.

A total of 196 countries are expected to sign a new agreement on climate that will determine the fate of the world in the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 21, which will be held between Nov. 30 and Dec. 12 in Le Bourget, a commune in the northeast suburbs of Paris.
