EU a key anchor and Turkey not to lose it: Deputy PM
The European Union is a significant anchor for Turkey and the country will not lose it, said a top economy official, adding that if Turkey can maintain its progress on the road to EU integration, it will succeed in overcoming many problems and reducing risks to a minimum.
EU commissioner: Agreement to open new chapters next week
EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn said Monday he expects the EU to next week to reach agreement on the opening of new chapters in Serbia's accession negotiations.
Hahn, who is in charge of EU's neighborhood policy and enlargement negotiations, said he was greatly optimistic that new chapters can be opened.

Minister without portfolio in charge of EU integration Jadranka Joksimovic says it is important for the country to open new chapters by the end of the year.
She said the importance of this was in the fact 2017 will be "very difficult for the (EU accession) negotiating process" due to elections in key EU member-states.

Johannes Hahn, EU Enlargement Commissioner, stated that "the prospect of EU membership continues to drive transformation and anchor stability" in the Balkans, presenting the European Commission's annual progress reports on the Western Balkans and Turkey in Brussels on Wednesday.
EC Proposes Measures to Improve E-Commerce, Increase Customer Trust
The European Commission on Wednesday proposed measures to allow consumers and companies to buy and sell products and services online more easily and confidently across the EU.
The measures are part of the EU executive's strategic plan to create a Digital Single Market.
Report from screening for Chapter 19 to be adopted this week
EU member-states "should adopt a report from the screening for Chapter 19, dealing with social policy and employment, before the end of the week."
Head of Serbia's team in accession negotiations with the EU Tanja Miscevic made this statement on Monday.
European Parliament Endorses Rules on Use of Passenger' Data for Fighting Terrorism
The European Parliament approved on Thursday the new directive on the use of Passenger Name Record (PNR) data in the EU for fighting terrorism, trafficking and other types of serious crime.
The directive will oblige airlines to hand national authorities passengers' data for all flights from third countries to the EU and vice versa, the European Parliament said in a statement.

"I have not changed opinion regarding possible opening of Chapters 23 and 24 during the Dutch presidency of the EU," says Dutch Ambassador Henk van den Dool.
He added that he said earlier it could happen by the end of June, before the end of the Dutch EU presidency.
