Iohannis: Romania's objective - starting negotiations on future EU-UK relations as soon as possible

President Klaus Iohannis met on Wednesday evening with the ambassadors of EU member states accredited in Bucharest, stressing that Romania's aim at the presidency of the EU Council is to start as soon as possible the negotiations on future relations between the Union and the UK, if the Withdrawal Agreement is ratified by the British Parliament and approved by the European Parliament.

New rules for stricter bad-loan schedule

European Union lawmakers and governments on Tuesday reached a political agreement on new rules for the money that banks should set aside against possible losses from new loans that turn sour.

The compromise softens an initial proposal by the European Commission, but less than sought by the EU Parliament, which accepted a stricter provisioning calendar for banks.
