U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Dec. 21 said Russia and China had blood on their hands after the two countries used a veto of a U.N. Security Council resolution to block cross-border aid deliveries from Turkey and Iraq to millions of Syrian civilians.
The UN May Have no Money to Pay for Staff Salaries Next Month
The UN may not have enough money to pay its staff next month if member states fail to pay their dues, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said.
"This month, we will reach the deepest deficit of the decade. We risk ... entering November without enough cash to cover payrolls," Guterres told the UN General Assembly budget committee. "Our work and our reforms are at risk.", he said.
