Hollywood celebrities and citizens declare “We can end gun violence” (vid)

In an effort to put a stop to shootings in America celebrities and common people join their voices under one simple slogan: “We can end gun violence.”

Jennifer Aniston, Sofia Vergara, Kevin Bacon and Julianne Moore are among the celebrities who have joined President Obama in a new public service announcement to stop shootings.

Mark Zuckerberg posts a sweet photo of his daughter

The new father, Mark Zuckerberg, proud of his daughter wanted to share a sweet photo of his newborn daughter, Max, for everyone to see.

“Full of joy with little Max,” Zuckerberg captioned the photo, which shows him lying on the floor with one hand placed across her tummy as he gazes adoringly at his daughter.

Donald Trump, the American businessman turned presidential hopeful, threw out another provocation the other day. He argued there must be a "total and complete shutdown" of Muslims entering the United States "until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on." He, in other words, advanced a religion-based exclusion to normally one of freest countries in the world. 

US House passes bill to slow Syrian refugees despite Obama veto threat

The U.S. House of Representatives, defying a veto threat by President Barack Obama, overwhelmingly passed Republican-backed legislation on Nov. 19 to suspend Obama's program to admit 10,000 Syrian refugees in the next year and then intensify the process of screening them.

President Barack Obama slammed US "hysteria" about the security risks posed by Syrian refugees Nov. 17 as Republicans took steps aimed at freezing White House programs to resettle them in the wake of the Paris attacks.

In an unusually fierce rebuke, Obama struck out at his political foes, accusing them of demonizing "widows and orphans."
