Movie buffs converge in Thessaloniki

People wait in line for a screening on Friday at the 60th annual Thessaloniki International Film Festival, which kicked off on Thursday and runs to November 11. One of the biggest cinematic events in the Balkans, the festival is spread out across different venues in the northern port city though centered mainly around the warehouse complex on the seafront.

At Least 20 People Were Killed in Iraq in a Shooting at Protesters

At least 20 people were killed and 865 injured when Iraqi security forces opened fire on protesters in the city of Karbala, south of the capital Baghdad, last night, citing medical and police sources.

"They opened fire randomly while police vehicles rammed into protesters, leaving at least ten people dead," eyewitness Gaafar al-Saadi told Anadolu Agency.

Clocks go back on Sunday

Clocks in Greece should be set back an hour at 4 a.m. on Saturday to 3 a.m. as Daylight Saving Time ends.
The next time clocks will change will be on the last Sunday of March 2020, when official summer time will begin.

Protests in Chile Continue, Death Toll Rises to 18

Hundreds of thousands of people protested Wednesday against social inequalities in Chile, despite reforms announced by President Sebastian Pinera, BTA reports.

Three people died in the last 24 hours. This was announced by the Ministry of Interior. Thus, the total number of victims of the protests reached 18.

3.3 Magnitude Earthquake Registered in Greece

An earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter Scale has been reported in northern Greece in the Mount Athos region, BGNES reported.

According to Greek seismologists, the epicentrе of the earthquake was located 7-8 km. southeast of Ierissos at a depth of 10 km. "It was a slight earthquake, isolated," Ilias Fikos, a geologist and physicist, told ANA-MPA.
