The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) today selected Kristalina Georgieva to serve as IMF Managing Director and Chair of the Executive Board for a five-year term starting on October 1, 2019. The deputies elected Galina Georgieva as a member of the CEM from the quota of the parliament.

She was proposed for the post by the chairman of the parliamentary committee on culture and media and GERB MP Vezhdi Rashidov, and in the hall received the support of 97 deputies. 57 voted against, 24 abstained. She should take the place of Ivo Atanasov, whose term expires.

As the number of Bulgarian students is decreasing, foreigners studying in Bulgarian higher schools are getting more and more. For five years, the increase is 37.8% and their share reaches 7%. This is apparent from the data of the National Statistical Institute.

We approve a transfer for UNWE in Sofia, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov announced at the beginning of the government meeting.
