EU Directive: Bulgaria Embraces Universal USB-C Chargers for Devices

Bulgaria's government has ushered in a significant change by adopting amendments to regulations, enforcing the EU's long-awaited directive for a standardized charger across various electronic devices. The mandate spans mobile phones, tablets, laptops, cameras, and more, aiming to streamline charging via USB-C ports.

From 2024 - The Same Chargers for All Small and Medium Mobile Devices in the EU

Representatives of the 27 EU member states and MEPs agreed on a universal charger for smartphones, tablets, consoles and digital cameras. It should be introduced by the autumn of 2024. At the next stage, the unification of laptop chargers is also expected. This was announced by the European Parliament, quoted by AFP.

EC Proposes Common Phone Charger, Apple Opposes

The European Commission is expected to reveal its proposal for common charger for all mobile phones, tablets and headphones. The idea has met strong opposition from the technological conglomerate Apple which is also a producer of the popular iPhones, Reuters reported. The move is likely to affect badly Apple more than its rivals.

Samsung presents new VR headset

Tech company Samsung has presented its 3D virtual reality headset “Gear VR”. The virtual reality set, which will be powered by Oculus will be available in the Greek market in April and is the company’s first set that comes with a hand set controller. The controller has an integrated touch pad and is ergonomically designed.
