EU warns AstraZeneca over vaccine delivery delay

The European Union issued an angry warning to pharmaceutical group AstraZeneca on Jan. 25 over its unexpected delay in delivering millions of doses of its COVID-19 vaccine to the bloc.

The British-Swedish company's announcement "is not acceptable to the European Union," EU Commissioner for health Stella Kyriakides said after a meeting of member state representatives and the firm.

Greece headed for ‘some normality’ by spring, summer

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reckoned on Monday that Greece could return to "some normalcy" at the end of spring or the beginning of summer if the vaccination program remains on track.

COVID-19 vaccination campaign: 38,346 people immunised in last 24 hours

The National COVID-19 Vaccination Coordination Committee on Monday reported that in the last 24 hours 38,346 people have been immunised in Romania according to data provided by the National Institute of Public Health via the National Electronic Register of Vaccinations. Of the people vaccinated in the last 24 hours, 26,438 received one dose and 11,908 vaccinated two doses.

Coronavirus/Health Ministry: What 95% vaccine effectiveness means - 20 times lower risk to develop symptomatic COVID-19

The Health Ministry explained on Monday that a 95% effectiveness of a vaccine against the new coronavirus means that, compared to an unvaccinated person, an immunized person has a 20 times lower risk of developing symptomatic COVID-19.
